Diabetes Type 2
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) also known as adult-onset diabetes is characterised by high blood sugar levels insulin resistance and a lack of insulin.
Overview
Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects your body's ability to regulate blood sugar or glucose levels. Glucose is the fuel that powers your body's cells; however, it requires a key to enter them. Insulin is the key. People with type 2 diabetes do not respond to insulin as well as they should, and later in the disease, they frequently fail to produce enough insulin.
Type 2 diabetes primarily occurs as a result of obesity and lack of exercise. Some people are genetically more at risk than others.Type 2 diabetes is largely preventable by staying a normal weight exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet (high in fruits and vegetables and low in sugar and saturated fats). Diabetes can cause chronically elevated blood sugar levels. This raises the risk of diabetic complications.

Obesity and overweight Lack of physical activity Poor diet Psychological stress Gestational diabetes Polycystic ovarian syndrome Urbanisation are all risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes. Most cases of diabetes involve multiple genes, each of which contributes slightly to an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.A variety of medications and other health issues can increase the risk of developing diabetes.
