Overview
The transparent, dome-shaped glass in front of your eye is called the cornea. Light is focused into your eye by it. When the cornea thins out and enlarges into a cone shape, it is known as keratoconus. When the cornea's shape is altered, light beams go out of focus. Your vision becomes distorted and fuzzy as a result, making it challenging to do regular duties like driving or reading.
Causes
The cause of keratoconus is idiopathic; it may be due to a combination of genetic, environmental, and hormonal factors, with seven percent of affected individuals having a family history of keratoconus, along with other causes including rubbing the eyes and allergies.
Symptoms
Keratoconus symptoms include
Blurred or distorted vision
Double vision
Increased sensitivity to bright light
Night driving issues due to bright light and glare
Frequent eye power changes
Sudden clouding of vision.
