Deepana literllay means ' rekindling' . Deepana is apacification therapy employed to rekindle the digestion by eliminating the Kapha dosha. It involves intake of herbs and modification of diet which helps improve the agni ( digestive or metabolic fire). The therapy is employed prior to Vamana ( emesis) and Virechanam ( purgation).
