Ksheera Dhara is the procedure in which milk boiled along with medicinal herbs is poured continuously over the forehead and body. The medicinal milk when poured over the forehead has a resultant cooling effect and invigorates the hypothalamus and manages the function of the pituitary gland. As we know, the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland are pivotal centers in our body. Therefore, a therapy that can produce a conducive effect on these vital centers is worth practicing on patients. This therapy can be used in stress disorders and patients with anxiety.  It can be a useful therapy for skin disorders like psoriasis and inflammation. It is also believed to have exemplary action when used in the case of rheumatoid arthritis. Procedure Cow’s milk, is heated along with medicinal herbs till it simmers. Before pouring the medicated milk, we administer the patient a massage on the head with medicated oil for approximately 5-15 min. We advise the patient to lie in the supine position and then the head is wrapped to avoid leaking, with caution the ears are plugged and then both the eyes are covered. The sheer is then poured over the forehead with a slight pendular motion for some time. After the procedure, we wipe the area with extreme precision, and then the patient is asked to remain inside the room. We indicate hot water baths according to the condition. Benefits of Ksheera Dhara it can cure disorders of vata and pitta dosha vitiation. It is also believed to have great effects on stress disorders and psychological conditions.
