Netra sekham or Netra dhara is one of the panchakarma procedures performed for the eyes. Netra seka is a process in which Medicated liquids are poured into the closed eyelids from a height of 4 Angulas (4 Inches) in a thin and continuous stream for a set period. The medicated decoctions are unique and are prepared based on the strength and severity of the disease. It reduces the pain and inflammation and pacifies the kapha.



Procedure


Cleansing : Cleaning of the patient's eyes and surrounding tissues is the first step in preparation. Depending on the needs of each person, a calming herbal decoction or oil is made.

Application: The eye area is gently covered with the prepared medicinal liquid. This could entail hand application or the use of a specialized tool.

Relaxation: During the course of treatment, the patient is advised to close their eyes and relax. This stage often lasts fifteen to twenty minutes.

Post procedure protocol: After the process, the eyes are cleansed carefully, and patients may be given further advice on how to take care of their eyes after the procedure.
