Plantain Leaf bath
Naturopathy
Among herbs, plantain leaf is special because it can extract toxins from your body and skin. It was originally used to extract venom from bites caused by snakes as well as other animals and insects. Its drawing effect can also work wonders for stings, be they from insects or plants such as stinging nettle. A plantain leaf bath induces profuse sweating, it detoxes the body and is useful in many skin conditions.
How it is done?
Therapy is often administered between 9 and 11 a.m., which is believed to affect the body through vital sun rays.
The therapy is preceded by Abhyangam , with suitable oils. 'Abhyangam is generally believed to increase blood flow.
The whole body is then wrapped, which involves enveloping oneself in long, natural banana leaves.
The patient is therefore exposed to the sun in addition to Abhyangam, which aids in increasing the absorption of vitamin D, an essential nutrient for the skin, bones, muscles, and a few other hormone syntheses.
The duration of this treatment is roughly 30 to 40 minutes.
Following the treatment it is advised to shower in luke warm water. Precautions must be taken to prevent dehydration during the course of the treatment.
