Sinus drainage massage
Naturopathy
Tissues within the sinuses produce mucus which typically runs out of the nose. These tissues can occasionally swell with fluid and become inflamed. Nasal congestion is the result of this accumulation. A soothing massage that targets the areas of your skull where the sinus cavities are located can aid in sinus drainage.
A sinus massage aims to relieve the pain and pressure in the face, runny nose, congestion, headache, and postnasal drip down the back of your throat brought on by the excess mucus in the sinuses.
Preparation
Clean hands: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water to prevent the spread of germs.
Warm compress: Prepare a warm compress by soaking a clean cloth in warm water.
Massage Technique
Apply warm compress: A warm compress is placed over the forehead and the bridge of the nose for a few minutes to soften the mucus and open up the sinuses.
Gentle pressure:Forehead: Using the fingertips a gentle massage is done over the area between the eyebrows and along the hairline.
Nose: A sequence of gentle pressure is applied to the sides of your nose targeting the marma points.
Cheeks: The Massage then is carried over the hollows of the cheeks below the cheekbones in a circular motion to improve the blood flow
Steaming : The face is then steamed by adding decongestant oils and herbs like Eucalyptus,Basil , Nirgundi and Turmeric
Precautions
Hydration: Drinking plenty of fluids before the procedure helps thin the mucus and promote drainage.
Over-the-counter remedies: In case of extreme congestion, over-the-counter decongestants or pain relievers can be used as directed by the physician
